The Quick Heal’s Security Labs of Global IT Security firm announced that a Trojan for Android Banking has found that is targeting 232 banking apps(Including Indian banks like SBI, ICCI, axix, HDFC, IDBI).
The researcher says a malware known as “Android.banker.A2f8a” is being distributed as a fake flash player app on third-party stores, which keeps checking victims device for installed apps mainly the 232 banking and Cryptocurrency apps.
After downloading and installing the fake app it starts searching for targeted apps. Once found the targeted it shows a fake notification to ask users to log in with their credentials and by a fake login screen that the malicious app shows it steals users credentials like user ID and Passwords.
Quick Heal Advised mobile users to use mobile security apps that are reliable and can detect and block malicious app.
The Quick Heal Technology’s Chief Technology Officer and Join Managing Director said in a statement that to keep user’s Credential’s safe User’s should not download apps from third party app stores or from email/SMS provided links. He also strongly advised user’s to keep the mobile Security and Device OS up-to-date.
